"I started with North London Fitness as I wanted to get fit and had seen the classes in the park for years and always thought they looked interesting and noticed that people were smiling. I’m now a regular as the classes are always fun and varied. You never know what to expect as each class has a different range of exercises and challenges. I love being outside in the sunshine or running between the trees to dodge the rain. I have built up my strength and stamina and joined a new community of like- minded people.

"I don't like stuffy, sweaty gyms and so I started at North London Fitness over three years ago as I prefer to exercise in the fresh air - and in all weathers! Every session is different, and they are based on workout-time, not reps, so you're working at your pace and not intimated by super-fit people who have finished ahead of you. When I joined, I couldn't even do a sit up. Now I'm a regular and even taking personal training sessions. I’m seeing a remarkable improvement in my health and fitness! Gail is a great motivator and the group is very sociable. It's a fantastic way to meet local, like-minded people and I've made some good friends too."
"I initially contacted Gail regarding PT sessions as I wanted to get in shape ahead of my wedding (gym classes just weren’t cutting it), and then went on to compliment personal training with the classes in the park. "I started coming to class a few years ago because the gym did not work for me, I was useless at motivating myself to go and I found exercising on my own really hard, I needed something to motivate me. After cancelling my latest unused gym membership, I spotted the North London Fitness poster in the park and decided to give it a go. It was a good decision, I now exercise in the great outdoors, with a bunch of likeminded people and a great instructor!
The classes are challenging, but fun, within a few weeks I felt fitter and after a few months I felt a lot fitter/healthier than I have in years. Our instructor, Gail, has a great way of encouraging everyone and always adapts exercises to meet everybody’s needs, to ensure they are doing what is right for their body and health. She pushes you just the right amount to get that little bit extra from you and works very hard to make each session different as well as challenging. Consequently, I have been inspired to push beyond what I thought I could do, even managing to run a few 10ks, which I certainly could not have done a few years ago! On top of that I have lost about 1.5 stones and needed to buy new clothes.
North London Fitness, my fellow class members and the changes I have seen to my body and fitness have all been what motivate me to exercise and I would now much rather be in the park doing squats, stair runs, planks and even burpees, than stuck in a sweaty gym. I have even been known to pass on drinks after work to get home to go to class! I would recommend these classes to everyone whatever their age or level of fitness, I was totally unfit before I started and with them I have achieved my goal of getting fit and healthy and at the same time I have had fun and made loads of new friends."
"I have been coming to classes with Gail since 2010 and still absolutely love them. The classes are a great mix of exercises (cardio and strength). The format is always different to make it interesting and best of all Gail and the other instructors are encouraging, pushy (!) and most of all fun. Being outside in lovely Broomfield Park is such a bonus too and takes your mind off the pain! I really miss it when I haven't been."
"If you haven’t exercised for some time, are lacking in confidence or wondering how to get started then, please read this.
Before finding North London Fitness, I hadn't done any proper exercise for 17 years and had reached my mid-40's feeling unfit-exercise didn’t really figure in my life at all. I signed up for my free group session but, it took me 18 months before I went to the first class. I could always find a reason not to go; too tired, too cold, hungry, everyone there will be really fit and I'll feel stupid, I'll definitely go next week, etc, etc. Eventually, I signed up for some personal training sessions with Gail to get me started and that really helped and boosted my confidence.
I loved the outdoor sessions from the first night- I think the fresh air and social aspect of the class helps, ESPECIALLY when you don't feel like it! And I've made some good friends along the way. (We have occasional nights out with alcohol if that might persuade you).
Three and a half years later, I've had a career change and am now a qualified personal trainer myself. I still attend Gail's classes at Broomfield Park and even cover classes if needed. Thank you to Gail for starting this all off, being a great trainer and for entrusting me with her business and clients when she needs cover. I know how hard it is to get started because I've been there. I never imagined it would lead to where I am now. I hope this inspires you to try a class."
Staring at MTV and listening to someone else's choice of music blaring out.......or staring at the daffodils and listening to birdsong? Now that I have discovered exercising outside, I can't imagine wanting to go back to the stuffy confines of a gym. Gail manages to make every week different and has a real gift for making everyone feel welcome, whatever their level of fitness
